In our constant pursuit of simplifying language learning, we saw an opportunity to guide your learners with greater precision through their learning journeys.

With an eye on 2024, we’ll be giving Xeropan Android and iOS apps a complete makeover. (Web due in 2025) And nope, it’s not just about looking good; it’s about making your learning process more comfortable, engaging, and, of course, fun! Also we’ve added tons of new learning content to enhance your language learning journey.

We’ll guide you through what’s coming, explain the science behind the changes, and tackle your questions in the FAQs. And fear not: your hard-fought progress remains safe and sound with the new Xeropan!

The science behind the changes

The arrangement of lessons in the learning path is based on the principle of spaced repetition, a technique that has strong backing from scientific research in the field of learning.

When you first learn a word or come across a grammatical element, it’s beneficial to review it relatively soon afterwards, and then slowly increase the intervals between practice sessions. This approach assists in embedding the concepts in your long-term memory. The arrangement of lessons in the new learning path helps reinforce this learning style.

In the old home screen:

Lessons were organized into “Lesson groups” and lesson groups were organized in topics.
Spotting the differences between various lesson types (vocabulary, audio, video, grammar, speaking) used to be a visual challenge.
Identifying if lessons were completed was not straightforward, and discerning whether they were achieved with a 1, 2, or 3-star rating was equally challenging.
Before, vocabulary practice was not included on the home screen learning. The vocabulary practice will remind you to keep improving on the home screen as well.

In the new home screen:

Arrange lessons in a step-by-step manner on the home screen, eliminating the need to access topics individually. All lessons are organized consecutively, streamlining the user’s learning journey.
Enhance visual identification by highlighting different lesson types, reducing visual clutter.
Visually emphasize the completion level of lessons, making it easier to see how well you’ve done.
Incorporate vocabulary practice right on the home screen, ensuring that it’s a constant part of your learning process. This practice will encourage ongoing improvement through spaced repetition, right from the home screen.

The newly designed home screen learning path might appear longer, but rest assured, it contains the same lessons. We believe this innovative approach will enhance your learning experience, and we can’t wait for you to give it a whirl!

Question: Who’s getting this new app?

Question: I can’t find the Weekly Contest feature in the new app. What happened?
Answer: Still in the works. It’s going to be more spectacular, we promise later in 2024 with yet another release. Until then you can access your Weekly Contest on the Web version of Xeropan at www.xeropan.com. Make sure you sign in with the same Facebook, Google or Apple account you used on your mobile devices.

Question: Are there any other features that are unavailable in the new version of the Xeropan apps?
Answer: Yes, we are revamping the following features as well: a) Profile > Certificates, b) Profile > Following friends, checking friends learning progress, c) Profile > Learning time, d) Classroom chat feature to communicate with your teacher. Keep that in mind that all these features are available on www.xeropan.com. Make sure you sign in with the same Facebook, Google or Apple account you used on your mobile devices.

Question: What about the Web version of Xeropan?
Answer: The new design is released now for Android and iOS in February 2024. The Web version is still in the works. We’ll be launching it in 2025.

Question: Will I lose my hard-earned points and stars?
Answer: Never! Your hard-earned points and stars are safe with us.

Question: The learning path looks a lot longer. Did you guys add new lessons?
Answer: It’s longer, but in a good way. More practice, more FUN!

Question: Can I revert back to the previous version of the Xeropan app after updating?
Answer: Unfortunately, once you’ve updated to the latest version of the Xeropan app, you can’t revert back to the previous version. We’re confident you’ll love the new features, including enhanced audio and vocabulary health.

Question: Can I continue using the previous version of the Xeropan app without having to update?

Answer: Yes, you can continue using the previous version of the Xeropan app until 31st May 2024. After that date, we’ll no longer support the older version, and you’ll need to update to enjoy the latest features and improvements.

Question: I started learning with Xeropan before March 2021. Why am I suddenly limited to 5 minutes of learning a day on Xeropan?
Answer: It’s important that this does not apply to Hungarian elementary and secondary school students and also for learners who started learning with Xeropan after March 2021!
